lpv:spoken text	"I and my Labour colleagues strongly support the work of the rapporteur Edward Scicluna. I particularly draw attention to the emphasis his report places on the importance of economic growth as the best means to tackle excessive deficits. This is a clear response to those who argue for an undue focus on short-term cuts to expenditure, which could in fact jeopardise longer-term growth. Deficits must be steadily reduced over the coming years, as the economy recovers from the effects of the financial crisis, but growing our way out of the crisis is the only effective option to secure long-term fiscal sustainability and protect citizens."@en1
