"Madam President, I come from the West Midlands, and 20% of the West Midlands is classified as green belt. The green belt has successfully protected the beauty of our countryside and blocked arbitrary urban sprawl. However, encouraged by the European Union, the UK Government has increased house building, endangering the green belt, which is particularly close to my heart because it is near to where I live on the Meriden Gap. This shows a lack of respect for our culture and traditions, but what do you care? Since the UK joined the European Union – or the European common market, before that – you have blatantly disrespected our culture and traditions, and there is nothing less to be expected of you."@en1
