"− Like the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, I have voted against the motion for a resolution () on investing in the development of low-carbon technologies (SET Plan) for a number of reasons; in particular, because the amendment requesting the deletion of recital I – which was key for us – was accepted; in that paragraph it was suggested that the sixth European Industrial Initiative on ‘Sustainable Nuclear Energy’ should be renamed simply ‘Nuclear Energy’. We consider that the concept of ‘sustainable nuclear energy’ is meaningless because, in the best of cases, it is possible to reduce the threat to the environment and to people’s health, and the risks of proliferation that stem from the development and use of nuclear energy, but not eliminate them."@en1
