Therefore, either the problem does not exist or we do not want to see it. However, the situation of Muslim women in the world today, including in Europe, is tragic. If Western feminism is having an identity crisis, it is because the fashion for multiculturalism has led so many of us to avoid tackling these issues, which are at the heart of the battles faced by so many Muslim women in Europe and the world. Let us leave multiculturalism and political correctness where we found them and let us rise to the new challenge: European men and women must now, not later, support Muslim women in Europe in their battle for emancipation, and thus also help those movements in the world that speak out against Islamic fundamentalism. Are we willing to fight to ensure that women in Europe are free from the symbol of spiritual death that is the burkha? Are we ready to discuss the deteriorating conditions of women in Muslim communities in Europe?
