lpv:translated text	". 11 February 2010 is a red-letter day for the European Parliament: Members representing the widest possible array of political persuasions and a wide range of Member States voted in favour of rejecting European citizens’ financial data being transferred to the USA. It is not clear how such a transfer of data could serve the purpose of fighting terrorism, nor does the SWIFT Agreement guarantee European data protection standards. With this decision, Parliament, as a body representing European citizens, has gained greater influence and self-confidence and has not succumbed to pressure from the USA. Its answer constituted a clear ‘no’ to the curtailment of European civil rights under the guise of combating terrorism. It goes without saying that I, too, supported the rejecting report for this reason."@en1
