"I support this report which extends eligibility of housing interventions in marginalised communities to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Under the new rules, all Member States will be able to avail of such EU funding to improve the conditions of marginalised households previously unavailable to Member States which joined since 2004. Physical degradation of housing stock denies its occupants the right to decent living conditions and is a major obstacle to integration and social cohesion. This regulation will allow for housing renovation projects to draw on the ERDF but, in order to counter segregation risks, these initiatives must be part of a wider social integration framework in the fields of health, education and social affairs."@en1
