On 15 December, Mr Barrot undertook to promote a European Charter on the rights of victims of terrorism. On 19 January, Mrs Malmström welcomed Mr Barrot’s words in a truly positive spirit. On behalf of the Spanish Presidency, on 26 January, Mr Pérez Rubalcaba, the Spanish Interior Minister, stated that he fully supported the victims of terrorism, and that Spain would do all it could in the Commission and the Council to assist them. We welcome all this. It is now time, however, to move from declarations to actions, coinciding with the VI International Congress on Victims of Terrorism, due to be held in Salamanca on 11th, 12th and 13th of this month. I wish the Congress every success in its work. Mr President, we shall continue to call for commitment in this area and to promote it from within Parliament."@en1
