Within the European Parliament, there are 23 official languages which demonstrate that there is nothing that unites Europe if not Christianity. I would like to ask Mr Barrot a question: why, after a popular referendum in Switzerland said ‘no’ to minarets, did the European Commission, the European Union, the United Nations, the Arab League and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference all rally round to condemn the outcome of that referendum – even though Switzerland is not a member of the European Union – yet today, you are taking a neutral position over a question which concerns our roots, our identity and our soul?"@en1
