lpv:translated text	"I have received requests from a large number of Slovenian and Italian citizens asking me to draw this House’s attention to Italy’s intention to build a gas terminal in the Gulf of Trieste. I share the concern of Slovenian and Italian environmental organisations that this gas terminal could place a major burden on what is already a very environmentally vulnerable area. I refer here to the seas of the Gulf of Trieste and its large urban hinterland. These organisations have also expressed doubts as to the accuracy of the documents used in the environmental impact assessment. I also call on the governments of Italy and Slovenia to work together on this project in the spirit of the memorandum they signed in September last year. In other words, I call on them to work together on environmental impact assessments in the northern Adriatic, and the Gulf of Trieste respectively. I also expect that, as a result of carrying out such an assessment, the governments will be able to agree on a more appropriate site for this gas terminal than the Gulf of Trieste."@en1
