According to Rule 13 of the Rules of Procedure, candidates for the office of President of our Parliament must be nominated, with the consent of the people concerned, by a group or by at least 40 Members. Under the conditions provided for in the Rules of Procedure, I have received the following nominations for the office of President of the European Parliament: Mr Jerzy Buzek Mrs Eva-Britt Svensson The candidates have informed me that they consent to their nomination as candidates. Both candidates will now introduce themselves briefly, starting with Mrs Svensson."@en1
