"Mr President, I will not even try to follow that, but will just congratulate Mr Heaton-Harris as this evening – or last night depending on how you look at it – he achieved his 100th speech in this place, and I know that you for one are grateful for that. We all need to recognise the extremely important role played by women, and particularly spouses, in small businesses and, particularly, in respect of the self-employed. I myself, before I was elected, was self-employed and my wife played a vital role in that business. It is absolutely right that we recognise this, and when talking about women in small businesses I would just like to end with the words of that great philosopher, John Lennon. He said, ‘Woman, I can hardly express my mixed emotions at my thoughtlessness. After all, I am forever in your debt. And woman, I will try to express my inner feelings and thankfulness for showing me the meaning of success’."@en1
