"Madam President, I did of course vote against the Hamon report, which is even worse than the Commission’s proposal on the taxation of savings, because, against all logic, a majority of Parliament – although it far from represents the majority of the Members of this House – voted to abolish the system of taxation at source, which works, in order to retain only the system of exchange of information, which is costly, bureaucratic and inefficient. This is incomprehensible!
I am happy to admit that the majority of the Members here did not have a good knowledge of the issue, otherwise they would not have been able to vote to abolish a system that is efficient, cheap, and that ensures that everyone pays tax on capital income, instead advocating exchange of information.
Mr Hamon told me that he is not interested as to whether everyone pays their taxes. Last night he told me: ‘I want to know that French people…"@en1
