lpv:translated text	"We voted in favour of this report because it underlines the scale and persistence of the inequalities between men and women in the performing arts and their impact on society as a whole. It also emphasises the absolute necessity of promoting and encouraging women’s access to all the artistic professions in which they are in the minority. As is stressed in the report, the percentage of women employed in artistic professions and in the official culture industry is very small. Women are also under-represented in positions of responsibility in cultural institutions and in the academies and universities where some arts are studied. That is why we agree with many of the proposals presented here, emphasising the need for promotion of women’s access to all the artistic professions and other professional activities related to performance in which they are in the minority. Member States also should be encouraged to remove any impediments to women’s access to management positions in cultural institutions, as well as in academies and universities. We also emphasise that discrimination towards women is problematic for the development of the cultural sector because it deprives the sector of talent and ability. We also recognise that talent needs contact with the public in order to be given recognition."@en1
