". Madam President, my decision to vote against the motion for a resolution was based on the fact that it reiterates the same ideas that my group opposed in the final vote of the temporary committee on the alleged use of European countries by the CIA for the transport and illegal detention of prisoners (TDIP). I give this opinion as coordinator of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats for the former TDIP temporary committee and for the subsequent working group within the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. The aforesaid committee decided to send a questionnaire to each Member State in order to clarify what developments had taken place following the European Parliament’s investigation. To date however, as you are well aware, no response has been received to these questionnaires, even after written reminders were sent. I do not therefore think it wise to adopt a new text claiming to make new conclusions when in reality we have nothing new to make public. I have the feeling this is yet another electoral stunt by the Left, rather than an attempt to see justice."@en1
