The stress caused by intense congestion, the high level of pollution and journeys within towns, which are responsible for 40% and more of total CO emissions from road transport, together with the lack of safety for drivers and vulnerable groups, such as pedestrians and cyclists, are just some of the problems encountered every day by European citizens in major towns and cities.
