"Looking at the demands faced by the European Commission, we are pleased to say that they were not only met, but also exceeded. The European Commission went above and beyond. On the other hand, further joint effort is needed in order to promote the Irish language on a wider scale. These efforts should come both from community institutions and from Irish authorities and the Irish society at large. For instance, we need more Irish interpreters, more translators, and this objective is hard to achieve unless significant resources are allocated at country level, that is, in Ireland. This is why I am working closely with the Irish authorities to encourage and stimulate those who want to train and acquire the necessary skills that would enable them to do linguistic work for community institutions. I would also like to stress that we are working closely with the Irish authorities with respect to the various developments of the Irish language, not only its institutional aspects. We want to do our best to help Irish terminology and, as I said, we have a close cooperation with all the stakeholders."@en1
