".
The main purpose of all legislation on medicinal products has to be to protect our society’s health. However, this aim should be achieved by measures that do not interfere with the development of industry in the European Union or the trade in medicinal products. Despite the fact that earlier regulations have drawn up a list of food colourants, different countries have different laws on their use. These differences can hinder the trade in medicines containing these colourants, and that is why the regulation must be amended; this would bring more clarity and make the work of quite a few institutions easier."@en1
