".
This report is in fact an activity report from the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions. But, since the report refers at several points to the Treaty of Lisbon in glowing terms and in the hope that it will soon be ratified, we have chosen to vote against the report in its entirety.
Our fundamental view is that the Treaty of Lisbon has been rejected, since voters in one Member State and in one referendum said ‘no’ to the Treaty. Yet there are many more Member States in which there is no doubt that a majority of voters would have rejected the Treaty of Lisbon if they had been given the chance.
That ignorance, which the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions shows at various points in its report, is something we cannot endorse.
As regards the question of a single seat for the European Parliament, we back the principle that it is for the Member States together to decide on the seat of the European Parliament, but we also think it reasonable for the European Parliament to express an opinion on the matter."@en1
