".
I am in favour of the report by Mr Florenz on behalf of the Temporary Committee on Climate Change since he analyses the incidences and effects of climate change, insofar as they are vouched for by scientific proof.
Thus the claim that the costs of climate change could account for between 5% and 20% of GDP by 2050 unless some extremely ambitious measures are taken ought to concern us.
Even if all the Member States have made good progress to date, we must nonetheless be much more ambitious in our efforts to reduce emissions.
We must also remain vigilant as to the potential harmful effects of promoting biofuels over world food supplies and deforestation."@en1
