"I voted against the report of Mr Ortuondo Larrea relating to a fishing agreement with the Seychelles. The CFP has been an unmitigated disaster and has not promoted a sustainable fishing industry around our coasts.
As a result of this, hundreds of Scottish boats have had to be scrapped and fishing communities have suffered. The answer to this is not to export other Member States’ over-capacity in the form of third-country fishing agreements.
If other Member States have too many boats to fish their own traditional fishing waters they should address this issue themselves – and not depend upon the EU to find more waters for them to plunder."@en1
