lpv:translated text	"Mr President, my Irish PPE-DE colleagues now fully support the liberalisation of the postal services within the Union, and we voted accordingly. We do so knowing that universal service is guaranteed to all citizens within the Union, and that specific measures have been taken to ensure that rural and sparsely populated areas are served by an adequate number of postal outlets. Mr President, I should also like to stress that it is equally important to have postal services for the visually impaired and the blind. My Irish EPP-ED colleagues and myself appeal to all Member States to maintain readily available postal services or to set up such services in countries where they are not provided at present."@en1
