The Schengen
is a particularly sensitive area in which we must be able to respond to any contingency. Organised human-trafficking gangs are constantly on the lookout for new gaps in our defences through which they can flood the EU with migrants. For this reason there must be no overhasty enlargement of the Schengen area.
