"Question No 58 by Dimitrios Papadimoulis ()
Elmar Brok, MEP, a member of the European Parliament's delegation to the Intergovernmental Conference, has complained that members of the Council have agreed to include a provision in the new treaty permitting the personal data of EU citizens to be passed on to third countries.
This arrangement is being pushed through without citizens being notified in advance and without their involvement. Moreover, it fails to take into account the European Parliament's opposition to such a move, as set out in its resolutionon the PNR agreement with the United States of America. Does the Commission agree to the inclusion of this provision in the new treaty? If not, how will it express its opposition?"@en1
