"Statistics show that the losses incurred because of accidents and their consequences in EU countries constitute about 2% of the GDP of the European Union, which means these losses are huge. Do we have similar figures for the Third World and developing countries? Is the percentage higher or lower? Apparently, they have fewer cars in these countries, so maybe that percentage is lower. While fully realising that the Commission cannot do everything for the countries in question, I would like to know if these countries draw from the experience of the European Union, where, during the last five years, the number of accidents has fallen by 50 percent."@en1
