"British Conservatives fully support the principle of equal treatment, irrespective of racial or ethnic origin. However, Conservatives have abstained on this report as elements of the report call for the shift of burden of proof from the accuser to the accused. It is a fundamental part of UK law that the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ applies. We also feel that the EU should not become involved in any way in the judicial process in sovereign Member States."@en1
