The reason I am raising this is that in Ireland we have already gone down from 15 to 13 seats. It is an island off the west coast of Europe. It is the furthest point before you go to the United States. There is a proposal now to reduce us further from 13 to 12, at a time when our population has gone up by 12% and is due to increase again dramatically. All I would say to the President-in-Office is this: since there are 16 additional seats to be allocated, would you please bear in mind Ireland’s case for retaining the 13 seats? I think if you look at the figures you will see that we do have a very good case, and I would ask that this should be taken into account."@en1
