"I do not believe that the new draft Treaty is very much different to the previous one and I cannot therefore support the report. Amendments requiring that referendums be held before any change to the treaties was implemented were presented for voting on. Even though I personally am in favour of a referendum in Sweden on the new Treaty, I think that it would be a mistake for such a referendum to be demanded at EU level. It is not the European Parliament’s job to decide whether or not the Member States should hold referendums."@en1
