"Mr President, I have been forced to make an appeal today in the European Parliament to defend the Polish health service. The current crisis in this sector is threatening the health of Polish society and undermines the dignity of those working in the field of healthcare, including doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff. The Lower Silesian Provincial Council’s actions are effectively leading to the closure of the specialist physiotherapy and orthopaedic healthcare complex and the orthopaedic equipment company near Poświęcka Street in Wrocław. The closure of these two healthcare centres is an extremely arrogant move on the part of the Provincial authorities. These are the only centres in the Lower Silesian region that provide a comprehensive service for disabled people, ranging from advice before an operation, through to physiotherapy and orthopaedic equipment. On behalf of the 420 000 disabled people in the Lower Silesian region, I would like to call, above all, for steps to be taken to stop the closure of these centres."@en1
