EU citizens also need to be more involved in the EU funding process and the way EU money is being spent to fulfil public policy objectives. Transparency and accountability are essential requirements for ensuring that EU citizens are involved in European policy-making. What measures are in place to ensure that not only the Member States, but also the Commission, operate as transparently as possible when it comes to distributing EU money via structural funds? Citizens should be able to process information on who receives EU funding, how much, and for what purpose. Is this information available?"@en1
