"Mr President, we do have to remember that the job being done by Special Envoy Martti Ahtisaari to find a solution to Kosovo’s status is under the auspices of the UN. The Union, however, strongly supports Mr Ahtisaari’s efforts and hopes that a solution to the question of status will be found. It is very important that stability in the region can be maintained and that long-term preconditions for development can be established. The European Union is preparing for a diverse presence and support in Kosovo even after a decision on its status has been reached.
With regard to the honourable Member’s second question, I would refer to my analysis of the Free Trade Agreement in my original answer. Projects connected with the Free Trade Agreement are well along the way, and we are expecting it to be signed this December."@en1
