"Madam President, I can follow on seamlessly from where the Commissioner has just left off. Research is important, but education and teaching of students are undoubtedly another of the lofty objectives of universities.
When I worked as a professor, I was saddened to find that some universities, particularly those that always appear right at the top of the major rankings – for example British elite universities such as Oxford and Cambridge – were extremely reserved when it came to the Erasmus programme, in contrast to many other universities. Could participation in the Erasmus programme be made one of the criteria?"@en1
