"Mr President, I welcome this realistic report, though do think it could have been stronger. I in principle support Turkey’s eventual accession provided they have taken reform seriously and faced up to their past. I do not believe that they have, and it is up to us to keep the pressure up. On the recognition of the Armenian genocide and on treatment of the Kurds in particular I believe this report could have been more uncompromising, though on balance I support the findings and congratulate our rapporteur on a major piece of work."@en1
