". As the honourable Member rightly mentioned, there has been quite some change to the whole energy market scene. Europe needs stable relationships with the main producers outside the EU too. However, this does not and must not prevent us from ensuring that there is an integrated, competitive market within the EU. An open and competitive, flexible and interconnected single EU market will guarantee a secure energy position for the future as it will make the European market attractive to external suppliers; so that is all part of the game. Such a market will also be open to embracing new energy mixes. It will be able to muster the internal strength needed to master the international challenges in this field."@en1
