I feel that investment in research and technological development is vital to the success of the Lisbon Strategy. Investment in research into climate change and its impact on natural disasters and into energy sources other than fossil fuels must be stepped up. I feel that research into embryonic stem cell research – a highly promising area of research that has yielded very encouraging results in terms of treating diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – should be funded by this Framework Programme following rigorous, case-by-case assessment by the ethical committees."@en1
