"Mr President, I did not vote for this resolution because I consider it to be extremely weak.
I should like, in particular, to stress that the reactions to the cartoons, whether or not they were offensive – that is something for the courts to decide – did not come from just the dregs of society, as they did in France, when the disturbances took place in its suburbs.
In this case there have been official reactions, such as the withdrawal of ambassadors and the official boycott of Danish products, which are European products. As the author, Oriana Fallaci, has already stressed on many occasions, this demonstrates that there is no such thing as a tolerant Islam, because a tolerant Islam would have laughed at the cartoons and would have ignored them. It would certainly not have reacted in this manner."@en1
