We wish to reduce expenditure on agricultural policy and the Structural Funds and allocate more resources to research and development and to the common foreign and security policy. Parliament has the right of codecision on the financial perspective and has announced that it will push its own budget policy very hard. We do not support the expansive budget policy advocated by Parliament but do support other proposals such as that to increase the appropriations to research and development. In the light of this, we did not vote against the resolution in the final vote but abstained, given that we are able to support parts of Parliament’s proposal."@en1
