"Madam President, unfortunately I have to say that I did not find Mr Alexander’s response very convincing. The Council has done very little to encourage the EU Member States to ratify the Hague Convention on parental responsibility and measures for the protection of children, which regulates such issues. We are all aware that only six Member States have ratified this Convention. The other Member States have not yet done so, which means that such forms of punishment can still be used. I should like to ask what action the Council has taken in this respect."@en1
