"Madam President, I should like to thank Mr Alexander for his answer. I would have preferred, however, to receive a clearer response to the substance of my question, which related to the rules governing the sharing of quotas and closed seasons. It is high time that the annual negotiations in this field were based on objective and convincing findings. I do not believe that the advice to which Mr Alexander referred meets these criteria. As we are all aware, the scope of research into fish stocks in the Baltic has so far been limited by an inadequate number of fishing surveys, and by what essentially amounts to a lack of consensus on the methodological basis for biomass assessments. When Mr Alexander grows weary of airports, I should like to invite him to the Baltic. We would be delighted to welcome him there."@en1
