"Question No 11 by John Purvis ()
Rendered animal tallow (animal fat) is included in the Waste Incineration Directive 2000/76/EC(WID), and after December this year it will have to be incinerated under very strict conditions. Currently it is used as a fuel in steam boilers in rendering plants and in the production of biodiesel. However, the conditions of the WID directive appear to preclude its use for these purposes. Is this not inconsistent with the Commission's environmental policy of encouraging competitive and efficient alternative energy sources?"@en1
