".
I welcome the report concerning the new challenges for the circus as part of European culture. It is imperative that an adequate and non discriminatory education is provided to all children of travelling communities regardless of the Member State in which they temporarily reside. It is of equal importance that the welfare and mobility rights of circus workers are protected through the use of short-term residence permits. However, it is a source of deep concern that the report includes the presentation of animals as I strongly oppose the use of animals in the circus. It is now both the Commission and the Member States' responsibility to reflect on the point in question."@en1
