"Mr President, I should like to raise the issue of a problem that an organisation called Frontline is experiencing. Frontline is an international foundation for the protection of human rights defenders, an organisation that seeks to help those who are working in various parts of the world defending human rights, and who themselves are at risk. Frontline has organised a major conference in Dublin this week and eight of the participants in that conference have been denied the right to travel by their states. They include a participant from Uzbekistan; a participant from Tunisia; a participant from Palestine who has been denied the right to travel by Israel; participants from Iran and Saudi Arabia; a participant from Western Sahara who has been denied the right to travel by Morocco; a participant from Syria; and a participant from Chechnya who has been denied the right to travel by Russia. This is clearly a situation in which people who are defending the universal declaration of human rights are being denied the right they are guaranteed under that declaration to leave and to return to their own country. I would ask the Presidency of Parliament to intervene on behalf of these people. I will send the details of these cases individually to the Presidency."@en1
