"The Swedish Conservatives and Christian Democrats have today chosen to vote against the own-initiative report on road safety. We believe that road safety in all its forms is incredibly important and that the report makes a number of very important proposals. The reason for our position is, however, that the report is in large part dominated by issues that should be dealt with at national, rather than EU, level. An expansion of EU influence in the road safety area would lead to unnecessary detailed regulations and more bureaucracy."@en1
