"Mr President, members from across national borders and political boundaries are in support of John Packwood, who faces extradition from Spain to Morocco, which is something that could not happen to a Spanish citizen. This is, of course, a violation of the equal treatment of EU citizens, enshrined in the Treaty. It is discrimination which I call most strongly on the Commission and the President to oppose by making representations to the Spanish Government before the extradition deadline.
A case must be allowed to be developed that can go to the Court of Human Rights, but this is also being denied as matters are being pushed through quickly. He is a desperate man facing a desperate plight and he needs all our support. I urge you to help in this case."@en1
