". I am a firm supporter of social Europe and of the protection of employees from hazards at work. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, however. Why should we want to churn out regulations governing workers’ exposure to sunlight from Sicily to the Arctic Circle? Would it not be sufficient to apply what is today pompously referred to as the precautionary principle, namely basic caution, instead of legislating left, right and centre?"@en1
