". Today Parliament adopted the common position on the proposal for a directive tabled by the Commission in 2002. A great deal of water has passed under the bridge in that time, and a number of aspects not contained in the original proposal have now been introduced. In the current version, a number of situations – salaried and liberal professions, temporary provision of services and the so-called ‘regulated’ professions, such as doctors, nurses and architects – are covered, albeit from different perspectives. There is also a series of amendments aimed at defining the role of the professional associations dealing with the recognition of qualifications and at setting up a single committee for this purpose. The amendments also advocate that the professions should be represented in the new body, and that an individual professional card should be introduced containing information on the person’s career development."@en1
