"Mr President, in September 2004 the Russian Federation set limits on imports of food products from Poland. Polish companies exporting meat and dairy products were also obliged to undergo special inspections by Russian veterinary and plant health agencies. Out of a total of 74 dairy companies inspected, only two were authorised to export products to Russia. In spite of the fact that nearly four months have passed since the inspections were completed, Russia has still not provided Poland with a list of companies that passed the inspections and are permitted to export products. This is proof that Polish companies are being discriminated against on the Russian market. In January, Poland was assured that the European Commission would intervene to speed up procedures for allowing Polish companies into the Russian market. I should like to ask what measures the Commission has taken in this connection, what the outcome of those measures has been and when the discriminatory practices applied by the Russian Federation will cease."@en1
