"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, despite the hypocritical congratulations and welcoming of the Palestinian elections, the Israeli Government continues its murderous policy against the Palestinian people. Work to extend the erection of the wall of shame and confiscate the property of Palestinians expelled from East Jerusalem has resumed, despite the fact that the pretext which the Israeli Government put forward in the past about its Palestinian counterpart's alleged lack of conciliatoriness has crumbled.
The intransigence of the Israeli Government is being fed by the policy of the United States of America and the European Union. Even in the resolution, the so-called terrorism of the Palestinians is ranked as the first issue. A new slanderous campaign is under way to connect the Palestinians with Iran and Syria as an axis of evil and source of terrorism, in order to justify the intransigence of the Israeli Government and prepare public opinion to accept the new imperialist interventions and wars being planned with the aggressive plan for the Middle East.
It is obvious that, even in today's debate, an endeavour has been made, in an unacceptable manner, to connect a European party which belongs to the European Parliament, Sinn Féin, with terrorism. This action is unacceptable. We express our solidarity with the Palestinian people for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital."@en1
