"Clearly there is a danger, now that Spain and Ireland have made their requests, that other Member States will follow through. In my own country of Scotland we have Gaelic as a minority language, and in Wales there is a different version of Gaelic as a minority language.
In the interim, subject to the final settlement of this at Community level, I wonder whether the presidency would encourage Member States collectively to print key Community documents, such as the Constitution, and key legislative texts in all the minority languages of their Member State. Then it would not be a Community burden; it would be a burden on the Member States. That would be a pragmatic way of getting round this difficulty."@en1
