"Mr President, I do not want to repeat all the things that my fellow Members who spoke before me have already expressed very well. On many occasions, the Commission has said that this is the best agreement that it could extract from the United States Government, but it must be said that, the more debates we have, the worse the situation gets for European citizens. Indeed, today we know that this agreement not only implies a violation of the Treaties, but even the possibility that these data will be transferred to a third country and will be processed by them, which thus made it more difficult to get the debate on the first part of the agreement under way. As has already been said, this Parliament has often said that it is against this agreement. Of course, it has not specifically voted on resorting to the Court of Justice but this, in my opinion, is a necessary consequence. We are therefore calling for Parliament to be able to take the opinion of a third, much respected and authoritative authority, such as the Court of Justice, and thus be able to freely decide whether to say yes or no to this agreement."@en1
