The draft Council decision seeks to include, with a view to the new division of jurisdiction in direct actions and the enlargement of the Union, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Slovak, Slovene and Czech amongst the working languages established by Article 35 of the Court’s Rules of Procedure. Following on from the new division of jurisdiction in direct actions between the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance set out by the Treaty of Nice, it is also appropriate to establish a rule to decide on the court’s language of proceedings, provided that the requesting party is an institution.
